Registrations are open and invited for the UNESCO Youth-in-Action Photo Contest 2023. The last date for submission of entries is August 15, 2023.


About UNESCO

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was founded on November 16, 1945. It is a specialized agency of the United Nations aimed at promoting world peace and security through international cooperation in education, arts, sciences and culture.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The photography contest is open to everyone between 18 and 35 years old, regardless of their country of residence, except employees of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
  • To participate, entrants must have access to the Internet.
  • Participation is strictly personal and the entrant cannot enter the contest on behalf of another person.
  • Participation in the photography contest implies full acceptance of these rules and all of their provisions. Non-compliance with the rules will result in disqualification of the entrant.

Selection Criteria

Photographs will be selected on their originality, creativity, photographic quality and relevance to the theme of the 2023 edition:

Youth-in-action, working towards creating a better future for all, such as fighting climate change, building peace, strengthening civic space, empowering youth and any other relevant action to UNESCO’s work.

The choice will be made according to the discretion of the Selection Committee. No appeals will be considered.

Awards

The shortlisted entries chosen by the UNESCO Youth Selection Committee will be featured on the Facebook page where the top photos with the most interactions (likes, shares, and comments) will be declared the winners.

The three winners will receive recognition for their contribution to making a difference in the world by being featured in three separate posts with photos, descriptions and links to the photographer’s social media accounts on the Facebook page.

They will also be featured in a Web story on UNESCO’s website to announce the 3 winners and present their photos and stories.
