International Day of Sign Languages Quiz by Ministry of Education & MyGov, India: Register by Dec 2

The Ministry of Education in collaboration with MyGov, India is organizing the International Day of Sign Languages Quiz from September 23 to December 2, 2023, in an online mode.



About the Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education (MoE) is a ministry of the Government of India, responsible for the implementation of the National Policy on Education. The ministry is further divided into two departments: the Department of School Education and Literacy, which deals with primary, secondary, and higher secondary education, adult education, and literacy, and the Department of Higher Education, which deals with university-level education, technical education, scholarships, etc.

About the Quiz

The International Day of Sign Languages offers an opportunity to celebrate and protect the cultural diversity and linguistic identity of all deaf individuals as well as sign language users. Every year International Sign Language Day is celebrated the world over on September 23, 2023. This day advocates that Sign Language is for everyone and not restricted to the deaf community.

Aim of Quiz

Ministry of Education, in collaboration with MyGov, intends to host a quiz which aims:

  • To create awareness of the linguistic identity and cultural diversity of deaf people and sign language users.
  • To highlight the specific features of ISL and Deaf culture in India.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Regardless of age, all Indian citizens are eligible to participate.

Prizes

All participants will get an E-certificate.

Registration Deadline

The registrations will close on December 2, 2023.

Rules & Regulations

  • The Quiz questions are designed carefully to assess the knowledge and understanding of sign languages.
  • Each question in the Quiz is in the Multiple-Choice Format and has only one correct answer.
  • The quiz will have a bilingual format and will be available in English and Hindi.
  • Each Question carries 1 mark. Participants are required to attempt all questions in total.
  • Participants will be required to answer 30 questions within 300 seconds.
