Registrations are invited for Science Seminar Competition 2023 for Students in Classes 8-10 at Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, Kolkata. The last date of registration is August 22, 2023.

About the Organization

Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM) in Kolkata, the first science museum in the country under the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, is engaged in popularizing and promoting science especially among the youth through various interactive models, exhibitions, educational programmes and activities throughout the year.

Competition Details

The objective of the Science Seminar is to inculcate a spirit of scientific enquiry and analytical thinking in
the minds of young students. The Science Seminar will be held on a competitive basis in each State and
Union Territory. The Seminar is organized generally at School, Block, District and State level before
culminating at the National Level. Winner from each District will participate in State / Union
Territory Level Seminar and only one winner from each State / Union Territory is eligible for National
Level Science Seminar, which will be organized by National Science Centre, Delhi on October 12, 2023.

Eligibility

High School Students from Class VIII to Class X only (One participant per school).

Language

English, Hindi or any recognized Indian language.

Duration

Participants shall make his/her presentation on the given topic for a maximum duration of 6 minutes. This will be followed by a two minute Question-Answer Session with the Judges on the same topic.

Dates

• Date of Kolkata District Science Seminar: August 29, 2023.
• Date of West Bengal State Science Seminar: September 08, 2023 (for Kolkata District Winner).
• Date of National Science Seminar: October 12, 2023 (for West Bengal State Winner).

Pattern

Each participant of the State/Union Territory Science Seminar will be asked 3 (three) questions in the Question-Answer session after his/her presentation by the judges and he/she will be required to answer any 2 questions in two minutes. There will be a written aptitude test also for all the participants before the Seminar starts.

Prizes

As decided by the host organizers of District / State / Union Territory/ National Level Science Seminars.
